Sarah Roland Denton, Texas
Sarah Roland was raised just east of McKinney in Princeton, Texas. Sarah has always wanted to be a criminal defense lawyer due in large part to her late father, George Roland. George was a highly respected criminal defense lawyer in Collin County, Texas for over 25 years. After graduating from Princeton High School, Sarah attended Baylor University where she received her BA in English Literature. Sarah then graduated law school from Texas Tech University School of Law where she received the Clifford W. Brown Award for excellence as a student attorney in the Criminal Justice Clinic, the Outstanding Clinic Student Award, and the Excellence for the Future Award for Achievement in Advanced Criminal Law. After graduating law school, Sarah came to Denton, Texas, and began practicing criminal law with Rick Hagen. Sarah has been a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers' Association and the Collin County Criminal Defense Lawyers' Association since 2000. She is also a member of the Denton County Criminal Defense Lawyers' Association, the Denton Young Lawyer's, and the Denton County Bar Association. Sarah's first article, Present before Piercing: Analyzing the Presentation Requirement of 18.06(b) as Applied to Searches of Blood in Light of Wilson v. Arkansas, was published in Voice for the Defense in Volume 36, Number 1, Jan./Feb. 2007.
